Chrome for iOS now displays an Ask Gemini button within the Page Tools menu, accessible through the three-dot icon. Users can tap this button to ask questions about the webpage they’re currently viewing, generate quick summaries, or create FAQ lists based on the page content.

How Gemini in Chrome Works on iOS

Setting up Gemini in Chrome for iOS requires one-time consent to send webpage data to Google. This allows Gemini to provide contextual answers using information from the current page. The setup process appears as a Get Started banner when users first access the feature.

Once activated, users can either describe their query naturally or select from pre-populated options like summarize page or create FAQ about this topic. Gemini responds instantly, and users can rate each response as helpful or not, helping improve future answers.

Managing Gemini Settings and Privacy

Chrome’s settings include a new Gemini in Chrome section where users can manage page sharing permissions and review app activity. An Ask Gemini entry also appears in the main Chrome iOS settings, providing an alternate path to access the AI panel.

Users maintain full control over when Gemini activates. The assistant only engages when explicitly requested and never runs in the background without permission. Chrome also allows users to copy or select text from Gemini responses, making it easy to share highlights or save important information.

The Gemini integration in Chrome for iOS currently rolls out to eligible users in the United States who have their Chrome language set to English. Google has not announced a specific timeline for expanding availability to additional countries or languages.
